Feb. 10 -  On January 26 Turboden was awarded the Best Innovation Prize 2016 by its mother company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Mr. Miyanaga, president and CEO, delivered the award to Davide Colombo, Turboden Fluid Dynamic and Turbine R&D Design, at MHI headquarters in Tokyo.

Since its foundation, Turboden has always been active in Research & Development. The latest innovation developed by Turboden R&D Department is the 5-stages Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbine, an efficient machinery solution for heat recovery from industrial processes and from high-enthalpy geothermal sources. In order to increase the efficiency of the turbine, Turboden R&D Department increased the number of stages from three to five; more stages are needed to effectively handle the pressure dropped across the turbine.

“Thanks to our R&D department we has always been focused on the target, without losing its wide vision. Our state-of-the-art 5-stages ORC axial turbine has been developed to increase the performances and the reliability of the turbine, besides reducing its vibration” Colombo said.

Turboden, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries company, is an Italian company and a global leader in the design, manufacture, and after-sales of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbogenerators, which harness heat to generate electric and thermal power from renewable sources, including biomass, geothermal and solar energy and waste heat from industrial processes, waste incinerators, engines or gas turbines. Turboden has more than 330 plants in 35 countries and offers ORC modules from 200 kW up to 20 MW electric per single shaft.
