Chapleau, Ontario, sawmill gets wood supply
June 28, 2011 – Chapleau, Ontario-based Niska North Inc. has accepted a wood supply offer of 97,800 cubic-metres/year of white birch, poplar, red and white pine, and other conifer, which it will use to diversify its product line. The company manufactures lumber, siding, decking, fence posts, mouldings, logs for log homes, fuelwood, and mulch. In addition, the sawmill will add equipment to process smaller logs to improve recovery and reduce costs.

"The additional Crown wood provides the opportunity to quickly respond to value-added markets for all wood species," says Wade Cachagee, president of Niska North.
