Drax scraps two 300MW plants
Written by David Manly
Feb. 22, 2012, London, UK - Drax, a UK energy generator, made a decision to cancel two of the three proposed 300MW plants due to a shift in governmental policy.

According to an article from Argus Media, the decision follows a renewable obligation certificate that increased support for co-firing plants, but reduced dedicated subsidies. However, Drax will continue with a 300MW plant located at the Port of Immingham.

“We feel the government is clearly recognizing the attractive economics of co-firing and conversion of coal-fired plants, and our prospects for co-firing are much more attractive,” Drax told Argus.
