Activists protest EU biomass conference
Written by David Manly
Apr. 13, 2012 - Environmental activists protested the European Biomass to Power industry conference in London that occurred on April 11 and 12.

Protesters waved banners, yelled slogans and held musical demonstrations to showcase their anger at the UK's support of biomass, according to an article from Energy Live News.

The protesters said that biomass utilization could increase consumption by approximately 600 percent, and that it would result in increased demand for wood chips and pellets from abroad, such as from Canada and South America.

Instead, they say, the UK should focus on using less energy.
