May 10, 2012 - Pelletco LLC, based in Maine, has begun a program to
provide schools in the Northeastern US that consume more than 15,000
gallons of fuel oil per year to convert to pellets without any costs to
them, according to an article in Biomass Power and Thermal.
This venture will allow institutions and commerical enterprises to see the benefits of pellet usage without any equipment, installation or maintenance costs. “Rather than
the schools having to put up money, we’ll put the equipment in,” said
Jim Knight, CEO of Pelletco. “We own it, we take care of it and we sell
the heat on a metered basis.”
The company provides not only a 100 percent biomass pellet, but also one comprised of wood waste and plastic residues from industrial plastic waste.
