May 23, 2012, Lake Placid, NY - Pat Curran, the owner of Curran
Renewable Energy, said that the wood pellet and chip industries need to
significantly grow to make it a reasonable business at the Adirondack
Research Consortium.
According to an article from the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, the best way to help grow the industry using subsidies is to provide them to end-users, such as homeowners.
He continued and suggested that the pellet and chip demand is not high enough to rationalize big plants.
In fact, obtaining wood to turn into biomass isn't the
problem, but selling it is, said Curran.
"We're barely tapping what needs to be harvested."
