July 17, 2012, Ottawa, ON – The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) announced today that Andrea Kent will fill the newly created position of Director of Communications. In the role, Ms. Kent will lead communications strategies to support CRFA members in advancing the use of clean, green and locally produced fuels.

Ms. Kent has extensive experience in communications, media relations and issues management in the Federal Public Service and has served in diverse roles on Parliament Hill as senior political staff to federal Cabinet ministers in several different portfolios. Her experience also includes performing key and sensitive issues management.

"We are pleased to have Andrea take on the new role of Director of Communications," said CRFA president, W. Scott Thurlow. “Her breadth and range of experience will be an asset for the CRFA. This move puts us in an excellent position to advance the association’s mandate and carry our message to Canadians.”

Ms. Kent has first-hand governmental experience having served as Director of Communications for the former Minister of National Revenue and as the Director of Parliamentary Affairs to the Minister of Public Safety and the former President of the Treasury Board. She has also served in management roles at the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canada Post Corporation.

Commenting on her role, Ms. Kent said, “I welcome the opportunity to work for the CRFA and be part of such a talented and innovative team. It is a sincere pleasure to promote the exceptional work of CRFA members and supporting organizations which provide Canadians with renewable, clean-burning fuels that generate such great environmental and economic benefits for the country.”
