Second pellet fire at Green Circle's port
August 3, 2012, Panama City, FL - According to a report from a local radio station, there has been a second fire at Port Panama City, related to Green Circle Bio-Energy's wood pellet facility. The fire started around 3:00 Monday morning in a barge full of the wood pellets. Authorities say the temperature in the barge reached about 140-degrees, which caused the pellets to spontaneously combust. Port officials say it's the first time in four years they had a spontaneous combustion fire.

Workers use a sixty foot crane to remove the lid from the barge so firefighters could fight the fire. Green Circle has been storing the pellets in barges since May, when short in a conveyor belt sparked the first fire.

The complete report and a video can be seen here.
