June 22, 2015 – The 100 million pound expansion of the port of Liverpool is the result of infrastructure demands caused by pellet imports for Drax.

According to the Financial Times, the expansion involves the construction of a new terminal to handle shipments of pellets for Drax. The pellets are being imported from Canadian and American pellet manufacturers.

The new terminal will include a rail loading facility and storage capacity for up to 100,000 tonnes of pellets.

Officials say that the new terminal will create close to 50 permanent jobs. The new terminal is expected to be completed by July of 2016.
