Vancouver passes green building policy

Dec. 2, 2016 - Developments in Vancouver built after May 1, 2017, must produce at least 50 per cent less greenhouse gas emissions, city councillors agreed this week.

The council voted to enact a strict green building policy on Tuesday that will steer changes in building practices and reduce the use of conventional natural gas for heating. The decision is part of the city’s move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable natural gas.
