Hammermill has two-in-one capability

August 26, 2013 - Williams Patent Crusher & Pulverizer Company Inc. has
introduced what it calls the first hybrid hammer mill combining the high capacities and
heavy duty features of a primary hog-type hammer mill crusher with the
fine grinding capabilities of a secondary hammer mill.
This rugged machine has a simple, durable, field-tested and proven
design. The new Chip Hog was initially designed for applications such as
conditioning green wood chips with 40-50% moisture to a uniform 1/4”
product size for drying or further processing, but the possibilities of
this mill are extensive.
A significantly heavier duty rotor than a traditional secondary
hammer mill accentuates the Chip Hog’s robustness and durability to
stand up to high capacity heavy duty applications. It does the fine
grind work of a secondary hammer mill using both impact and grinding
simultaneously while also incorporating higher product output and mill
stability found on traditional large hammer mills.
Features include a large feed opening, heavy duty tool steel hammers
for extended wear life, high hammer tip velocity to shred wet fibrous
materials, and heavy duty reinforced screen sections. The Chip Hog also
has oversized 8” bearings and an available hydraulic cover opening
system.
A specially-designed cover helps cut down on product surging for
smooth operation. Benefits include less wear and downtime, fewer
replacement parts, and cost savings. Williams Chip Hogs are available in
a variety of sizes with impressive capacities up to 100 TPH.
