June 10, 2010, Woodruff, SC – The Portable Fuel Feed System (PFFS) offered by Jeffrey
Rader Corporation is specifically designed for on-site alternative fuel
testing. The portability of this unit offers the convenience of a testing
system capable of being relocated as needed for testing at different locations
and under different conditions. Used for testing boilers, kilns, or other
processes, this system allows the owner/operator the greatest flexibility for
verifying boiler performance with different materials.

The portable design is transportable on a standard flatbed truck for ease of
mobility among test locations. Although originally designed for portability,
its rugged compact design also allows it to be mounted permanently.

Testing materials prior to investing in a large material handling system for a boiler
or kiln is an effective and economical way to ensure process performance and
emission levels based on actual site conditions, fuel types, and feed
rates—factors that vary widely with each location and fuel used.

The system is skid mounted with a hopper system for storing and metering the
material into the system. A twin screw can feed the material directly into a
pneumatic system. When greater accuracy is required, the twin screw feeds to a
weigh belt feeder. This material is then metered into a special Jeffrey Rader
rotary valve that feeds the pneumatic system. The material is then
pneumatically blown directly into a boiler/kiln through a port on the burner or
into a pulverized fuel line prior to the burner. When direct pneumatic
injection is not an option and mechanical feed is used, the material is
discharged through a cyclone before entering the mechanical feed system.

The PFFS comes with an optional control system that allows the operator to set specific
parameters at the start of the material test. Additional options include a
hopper that allows feeding via a walking floor trailer system, which eliminates
the manual loading of the hopper by a front-end loader.
