Air Canada’s president and CEO says the airline is on the right path towards addressing global warming through its new sustainability plan. In a letter published in the May/June issue of enRoute, Air Canada’s in-flight magazine, Michael Rousseau states the airline has already improved its fuel efficiency by 43 per cent since 1990, has poured $12 billion into more environmentally friendly aircraft and is supporting alternative fuel and climate research.

It has set interim goals to achieve 20 per cent greenhouse gas net reductions for 2030 in flight operations and another 30 per cent in ground operations.

Rousseau said not only are Air Canada’s plans meant to address climate change an urgent matter for its customers, investors and employees, it’s also the right thing to do.
