Atikokan’s biomass generating station comes through during deep freeze

Atikokan, Ont.’s biomass generating station came through for Ontario Power Generation, producing power 24 hours a day for 24 days during a couple of recent periods of extreme cold in Northwestern Ontario.
Normally, the wood pellet-burning station operates only during peak consumption periods Monday through Friday.
“The entire province was requiring extra power, all at the same time, creating the need for additional generation in the northwest,” Darcey Bailey, director of plant operations, told tbnewswatch.com.
