Nov. 26, 2010 – The Town of Hearst,
Ontario, is working to attract clean technology companies to the area to promote
local economic development. With $6,679 in support from the Northern
Communities Investment Readiness program, the Hearst and Area Economic
Development Corporation is developing a strategic plan to encourage clean
technology companies to invest and relocate to the Hearst Regional Green
Technology Centre. The plan will identify and address expectations and concerns
of potential developers and manufacturers.
The centre is expected to open by the end
of September 2011 and will act as a focal point for research, demonstration,
and education on sustainable forestry practices and technologies. The province
has invested $2.3 million to the Town of Hearst to construct the Hearst
Regional Green Technology Centre.
