Aurora Wood Pellets facing MLA concerns over emissions

March 6, 2018 - A Northwest Territories MLA has raised concerns about the environmental impacts of a proposed wood pellet plant in Enterprise, N.W.T.

Nahendeh MLA Shane Thompson told the Legislated Assembly last week he is pleased to know the mill will create local jobs, but questioned, “whether cutting virgin forest in the N.W.T and then burning it as wood pellets is an environmentally sound thing to do,” CBC News reports.

Aurora Wood Pellets has been in the works for years, and is expected to finalize harvesting contracts in April. This would be the first pellet mill in the territory.
