B.C. needs to explore geothermal resources for renewable energy: SFU research group

Geothermal energy can provide stable renewable heat and electricity, the Clean Energy Research Group (CERG) from Simon Fraser University says.

The group says both British Columbia and Alberta have sufficient geothermal resources to fulfill a future energy demand. Its findings have been spelled out in a new working paper.

“Without that investment and a more supportive regulatory environment, the private sector won’t take the risks to develop geothermal,” CERG lead Andy Hira stated in SFU News.
