
BC New Ventures competition deadline is April 17

Apr. 13, 2012 - The BC Bioenergy Network encourages all early-stage bioenergy companies to enter into the BCIC-New Ventures Competition, of which they have donated a $20,000 Bioenergy Prize.
Apr. 13, 2012 – Bioenergy Network is pleased to support a $20,000 Bioenergy Prize in the BCIC-New Ventures Competition and encourages all early-stage bioenergy companies to enter.
Last year's Bioenergy Prize winner was Diacarbon Energy Inc., who are currently commercializing their biomass refinery and are eager to begin production of carbon neutral fuels and biochar soil amendments from biomass waste.
Previous Bioenergy Prize winner includes Quadrogen Power Systems Inc. who subsequently received $2.7 million in funding from SDTC.
Invest $200 in your technology business idea and learn how to develop it into a profitable company. BCIC and the New Ventures BC Society invite BC entrepreneurs to submit their ideas to the 12th annual BCIC-New Ventures Competition offering more than $300,000 in prizes packages.
Over the years, more than 1,400 BC companies have participated in the six-month, five-round competition offering unparalleled networking, learning and mentoring sessions. Past winners include AirG (2001 first prize winner), Augurex Life Sciences (2007 first prize winner), Saltworks Technologies (2008 first prize winner), Pulse Energy (2008 second prize winner) and Hiretheworld.com (2010 first prize winner), to name only a few.
BC tech entrepreneurs are invited to enter their startup into the BCIC-New Ventures Competition by April 17th, 2012. Prizes include:

$35,000 BCIC Third Prize Package
$40,000 BC Hydro Sustainability Prize
$30,000 Shildroth Agritech Innovation First Prize
$20,000 Shildroth Agritech Innovation Second Prize

Who should enter?
The BCIC-New Ventures Competition is one of North America's largest technology business idea competitions and is open to companies from a wide range of industries including cleantech, digital media, Internet, life sciences, bioenergy, and agritech.
The competition is open to any BC person, resident or business with a technology-focused idea that has not yet secured more than $500,000 in financing from external investors (i.e. investors other than friends, family and company founders). Application deadline is Tuesday, April 17th, 2012, 11:59pm.
