Biofuel groups file petition against EPA

On Oct. 23, a group of biofuel producers filed a petition in the U.S. court of appeals in Washington against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

According to The National Post, the groups, which include the Renewable Fuels Association, the American Coalition for Ethanol, and Growth Energy, are challenging the EPA’s process for granting waivers to 31 oil refiners for 2018.

The U.S. biofuels industry has claimed the increased number of waivers under the Trump administration has undercut demand for biofuels, The National Post reports.
