Biofuel to power vessels in Finland

Jan. 14, 2015 - A Finnish company that owns the first cargo ship in the world to operate on biofuel has ordered two 4,700 dwt VG EcoCoaster general cargo ships from Dutch shipbuilder Royal Bodewes.

These ships will also be biofuel capable. Biofuel for the vessels is produced by a local refinery in Uusikaupunki, Finland.

Delivery of the first vessel from the shipyard is due at the end of July, 2016 and the second will follow three months later, according to Marine Log.
