Surrey shortlists three for biofuel facility

February 25, 2014, Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey has shortlisted three teams to move forward on its plan for a biofuel processing facility.

February 25, 2014, Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey has
shortlisted three teams to move forward on its plan for a biofuel processing
facility.

 

The teams — Iris Solutions, Plenary Harvest Surrey and
Urbaser S.A. — will now move toward the request for proposals stage for the
facility, which will convert residential kitchen and yard waste into renewable
fuel to power the city's garbage trucks.

The city says the plan will be the first "closed-loop
fully integrated" organics waste management system in North America.
