Jan. 19, 2017 - Renewable energy company BIOX, in a joint venture with World Energy BIOX Biofuels LLC (WEBB), has completed the commissioning of its 90 million U.S. gallon (USG) nameplate capacity biodiesel production facility in Houston, Texas. The facility started operating at full capacity in December 2016.

Aug. 31, 2016 -BIOX Corporation announced that in connection with its previously announced acquisition of a 50 million litre nameplate capacity biodiesel facility in Sombra, Ont., the company has obtained a $1.8 million credit facility from Farm Credit Canada. The credit facility is secured by a mortgage on the facility in Sombra is for a term of one year and bears interest at a rate of 4.75% per annum.The Sombra facility is located on a 21-acre facility near Sarnia, Ont., with excellent logistics, including on site rail. Originally constructed in 2009, the facility has not achieved nameplate capacity due to working capital and market challenges, and is currently not in production. The funds from the credit facility form part of the company's anticipated expenditure of an additional $5.0 million over the next nine months for upgrades to the facility that will improve the facility's efficiency and enable the use of a broader range of low carbon intensity feedstocks, such as animal fats and recycled cooking oils. The company expects the facility to be in production in time for the 2017 blend season in Ontario, during the second quarter of calendar 2017. February 10, 2016 - When the ownership of the $50-million biodiesel plant in Welland, Ont. changed hands in early 2015, the future of the facility was uncertain. The previous owners, Great Lakes Biodiesel, built the facility in 2013 but the plant closed in 2014 after falling into receivership and was taken over by Luxembourg-based Heridge SàRL, which was a major debt holder of the company. The new owners were left with a biodiesel plant they originally never had any intention of running. To make matters worse, the plant never operated at full capacity for prolonged periods of time and required millions of dollars in maintenance and repairs.
February 3, 2016 - Renewable Energy Group, Inc. announced that it has signed an asset purchase agreement with Sanimax Energy, LLC to acquire Sanimax’s 20-million gallon nameplate capacity biodiesel refinery located in DeForest, Wisc.
October 26, 2015 - Aemetis, Inc., an advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals company, announced that the Government of India Revenue Department removed an important tax barrier to expanding biodiesel production in India, issuing an exemption on excise tax for feedstock. Biodiesel is a non-excise product, but a 12.5 per cent tax had been charged on all feedstock and other inputs. The removal of the "inverted excise tax" enables rapid expansion of biodiesel production in India using both domestic and imported feedstock.
