Nov. 20, 2018 – BioVectra has been named Canada’s biotech company of the year. The Charlottetown, P.E.I-based company, a biotechnology and pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturer, received the BIOTECanada Gold Leaf Award for Company of the Year at a ceremony earlier this week.

According to The Guardian, the company, which currently employs 325 people, plans to expand its operations to Windsor, N.S. At the ceremony, BioVectra president Oliver Technow said the company is “an ambassador” for P.E.I.’s bioscience sector and the P.E.I. BioAlliance.

“You don’t have to be in Toronto or Montreal or Vancouver, obviously, to be a globally successful company in the biotech sector,” P.E.I. BioAlliance executive director Rory Francis told The Guardian. “And, one of the absolutely best examples in Canada is BioVectra.”
