McBride, B.C., will now be home to a new pellet plant, thanks to Boreal BioEnergy. The company bought the site of a sawmill which had shutdown 13 years ago.

According to CBC News, construction is expected to begin in early 2020 and the plant will begin operating in late 2020.

The plant will have a production capacity of 250,000 tonnes of black pellets, CBC News report, and will result in 50 to 60 new jobs. Pellets will be exported to Japan, with the first shipment scheduled to arrive in 2021.
