July 26, 2013, Brooklyn, N.S. – The sale of the Brooklyn Power generating facility to Emera Energy, a subsidiary of Nova Scotia utility company has been finalized.

Emera has paid $25 million for Brooklyn Power in a
sale that was first announced last December.

The sale was part of a larger deal that saw the provincial
government buy the former Bowater Mersey paper mill near Liverpool, N.S., from
Resolute Forest Products and convert it to a research and demonstration centre
for biomass energy and forestry.

About 30 people work at the Brooklyn power plant, a
30-megawatt biomass generating facility.
