Canada to adopt carbon price plan by 2018

Oct. 4, 2016 - Canada's provinces and territories have until 2018 to adopt a form of carbon pricing or the federal government will implement it for them, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this week.
Trudeau told the House of Commons Monday the proposed price on carbon dioxide pollution should start at a minimum of $10 a tonne in 2018, rising by $10 each year to $50 a tonne by 2022. The provinces can either use the direct price, or put in place a cap-and-trade system.
