Carbon capture technology the key toward emissions reductions, says Suncor CEO

Oilsands facilities are ideal candidates for investment in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), says the CEO of Suncor, Canada’s largest integrated oil company.

Mark Little told the Financial Post that carbon capture technology is the key for reducing emissions to help Canada achieve its goal of reaching net zero by 2050. In addition to Suncor, both Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and Cenovus Energy Inc. have expressed interest in CCUS investments.

Enbridge has said it could become a CCUS provider for oil and gas companies and is looking at capturing methane from landfills to be used as renewable natural gas.
