Kirkland Lake, Ont. may be the home of a new CHAR Technologies plant. The company recently presented its proposal to the municipality’s council, outlining its business and what a plant could mean to the area.

CHAR specializes in high temperature pyrolysis. It converts woody materials and organic waste into renewable gases and biocarbon. Wood waste harvested from the regional forestry industry would be converted into renewable natural gas and biocarbon for markets in Quebec and Ontario.

A new plant would create up to 10 full-time jobs and possibly more in the future.
