Connecting Communties – Building Futures conference

May 6, 2013, North Bay, Ont. – Nipissing University’s Biomass Innovation Centre will be hosting the Connecting Communities - Building Futures conference on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Clarion Resort in North Bay, Ontario.

The
conference includes five comprehensive sessions that are focused on using
biomass for heat and power applications, increasing technological knowledge,
and identifying regional opportunities and community sustainability
champions. 

The guest
speakers are industry experts and come from a variety of diverse
backgrounds. The sessions will provide an ideal platform to discuss ideas and
exchange experiences. 

Problems to Opportunities – Connecting the dots will set the framework and provide
a foundation for the sessions to follow.

Opportunities to Solutions – Exploring the options available will give an overview of biomass
heating applications from residential to commercial, and will describe the types
of biomass fuels and conversion technologies.

What You Need to Know – Navigating through the planning process will include valuable information
on permitting, financing and funding opportunities.

Who’s Doing it? – Examples of projects that work or are in the works will
showcase successful projects, and projects that are in various stages of
completion. 

How
We Get There – Building support for biomass
in the Blue Sky Region and beyond
will give an overview of work being
completed in the Region, and identify opportunities for participating in
working groups.

The conference will also host a trade show that welcomes
exhibitors from throughout Ontario who are involved in the bioeconomy. There
are dedicated times throughout the day to visit with the trade show
exhibitors.  

Cost is $60 and includes refreshments and lunch.

Northern
ENERGY Drinks – Biomass and Beer

The Biomass
Innovation Centre and the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) invite
you to Northern ENERGY Drinks at 6:30 p.m. following the conference. Come for an evening of networking over drinks and
appetizers in a relaxed atmosphere.

This energy mixer will take place at
The Raven and Republic (246 First Avenue
West, North Bay) in the upstairs lounge.

Cost
is $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
