Critics respond to B.C.’s Roadmap to 2030, saying plan has its shortcomings

While British Columbia’s newly released Roadmap to 2030 climate change plan contains stronger measures for tackling emissions from transportation and other industry sectors, it has its shortcomings, critics say.

The David Suzuki Foundation says the plan’s policies are threatened by growth in gas production. The plan also contains a “glaring gap” in its allowance for the development of natural gas, the B.C. regional director at the Pembina Institute says.

A professor at the University of British Columbia’s school of public policy says the government hasn’t stated how it plans to meet its oil and gas emissions target.
