August 12, 2014, London, England – Drax has lost its appeal
to qualify for subsidies for the conversion of a unit at the North Yorkshire
power station from coal to biomass.

The U.K. Court of Appeal ruled that the Department of Energy
and Climate Change (DECC) had the right to deny the funding to Drax for the

According to an article from The Guardian, the company was
cited as saying that the decision from the Court of Appeal will not be subject
to a further appeal from Drax.

It is unknown at this time how the decision will affect Drax’s
current contracts for wood pellets purchases from Canadian pellet
manufacturers.
