Dust control expertise offered to B.C. pellet industry

June 10, 2014, Vancouver, B.C. - The BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) in conjunction with the Manufacturers’ Advisory Group (MAG) are overseeing a team of technical expert advisors for all sawmills in BC, as well as the wood pellet industry, to provide comprehensive support and expertise on combustible dust control and mitigation at no cost to the industry.

June 10, 2014, Vancouver, B.C. – The BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) in conjunction with the
Manufacturers’ Advisory Group (MAG) are overseeing a team of technical expert
advisors for all sawmills in BC, as well as the wood pellet industry, to provide comprehensive
support and expertise on combustible
dust control and mitigation at no cost to the industry.

 

Providing this resource affords all sawmills one-on-one
access to highly skilled and knowledgeable experts that may not otherwise be
available to them. This is an industry initiative, and arms length from
WorkSafeBC (WSBC).

The administrative support for this team will be provided by
the BCFSC serving as a secretariat. WSBC has partnered with the BCFSC and MAG
to pay for all costs and fees related to the expert advisors. This service will
be available until December 31, 2014.

 

The goal of this initiative is to improve safety protocols,
processes, and general awareness in sawmills and wood pellet facilities across
BC.
