December 9, 2015
By Andrew Macklin

December 9, 2015 – The European Commission has formally opened an antitrust investigation into three biofuel producers who may have manipulated the biofuel benchmark prices.

According to Retuers, Algocorp SA of Belgium, Lantmännen ek för of Sweden and AbengoaSA of Spain are the three companies who actions are being investigated.

The concerns involve the possibility of collusion between the three companies to affect the ethanol benchmarks produced by pricing agency Platts. Platts, for its part, has noted that it is not a part of the EC’s investigation.
