Ecology group applauds Nova Scotia’s commitment to be carbon-neutral by 2030

Nova Scotia’s Ecology Action Centre is applauding the province’s goal to phase out coal for its energy use by 2030.

The 2030 objective is a full decade ahead of what Nova Scotia had earlier planned. Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc says he expects the province will become the first in Canada to achieve carbon neutrality.

A Nova Scotia Power official says the challenge will be to balance the phasing out of coal with affordability for its customers.
