Companies sought for international biofuels conference

"Companies that come on this mission will have a unique opportunity to attend one of Europe's premiere bio-economy events while participating in specialized networking events organized by CanBio, and all at a discount" said CanBio Chair Ken Shields. "Working with the Trade Commissioners, we have pulled out all the stops to ensure that delegates have as much opportunity as possible for learning, networking and exposure."

Delegates will have ample opportunity to network with potential offshore partners. A pre-conference information/networking session entitled Business Opportunities in Advanced Biomass in Canada will provide a forum for Canadian organizations to meet with European companies invited by the Embassy in a small, intimate venue. Canadians will have the opportunity to deliver a five-minute presentation on their technology or regional economic opportunity to potential European partners. The event will finish with a networking reception sponsored by the Port of Rotterdam.

Participants will benefit from the "Canada Pavilion" being organized especially for CanBio mission participants and manned by Canadian Embassy staff. The pavilion will provide an excellent location to hold one-on-one meetings with contacts made at the event, will be a distribute point for brochures and other information, and will be used to promote Canada as a destination for foreign investment and as a source of world-leading bio-refining technologies.

All delegates will be provided with a three-day ‘gold pass’ allowing them access to all conference sessions, the exhibition hall, all networking breaks, and the Gala Awards party. They will also have access to the online conference networking tool to pre-arrange meetings, and can have a 75-word company profile in the exhibition catalogue.

As with all CanBio overseas missions, non-government participants will receive grants to offset their travel costs through the Global Opportunities for Associations program offered by Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

"CanBio is promoting high-value biomass opportunities in Canada as well as providing opportunities for Canadian companies to market their technologies overseas," said Shields. "This mission will help ensure that Canada is a major force in the rapidly expanding global bioeconomy."
