Nov. 15, 2017 - Achieving a low carbon future will be challenging and will require a comprehensive portfolio of technologies and policy measures. Sustainable biomass can play an important role in such low carbon scenarios but enhanced efforts are critical to accelerate its deployment.

Natural Resources Canada is hosting a Bioenergy for the Future conference taking place Nov. 27 in Ottawa in advance of Scaling Up Bio. This event will highlight the public release of the IEA Technology Roadmap on Bioenergy. This roadmap provides modelling and scenario analysis confirming that bioenergy can make significant contribution to the carbon savings required by to address climate change. In addition, the roadmap identifies key actions to accelerate the deployment of bioenergy and biofuels and accelerate technology development and commercialization.

In partnership with International Energy Association (IEA), Mission Innovation aims to reinvigorate and accelerate global clean energy innovation with the objective to make clean energy widely affordable. Within Mission Innovation, the Sustainable Biofuels Innovation Challenge focuses on actions to produce, at scale, widely affordable, advanced biofuels for transportation and industrial applications. The critical needs to accomplish this are to improve the large-scale production and supply of biological feedstocks, and overcoming barriers to demonstrating technologies for at-scale production of biofuels meeting end-use specifications.

Seats are limited for this event. Please reserve your spot by Nov. 24 by contacting Leila Lemghalef at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
