Conveyors
Feb. 1, 2019 – Given the number of conveyor-related accidents that occur during routine maintenance and cleanup, every bulk material handler has a vested interest in technologies to help reduce hazards and prevent injuries. Seemingly mundane tasks such as adjusting belt cleaners and removing spillage often require employees to work in close proximity to the moving conveyor, where even incidental contact can result in serious injury in a split second. Further, spillage can contribute to the risk of fire by interfering with pulleys and idlers and by providing potential fuel.  Even worse, in confined spaces, airborne particles can create the right ingredients for an explosion.
Jan. 24, 2019 - Bandit Industries is proud to announce that it will offer select trommel screens and conveyor stackers manufactured by Poland-based company, Pronar, Sp. z o.o.
Jan. 17, 2019 - ProcessBarron, an industry leader in total system solutions for air, ash, and bulk materials handling, is excited to announce its selection by How2Media to be featured on Episode 268 of the show "World’s Greatest!..." on Monday, Jan. 21, and Monday, Jan. 28. How2Media, producers of the show, reached out to ProcessBarron in June of 2018. After consideration of multiple companies, How2Media invited ProcessBarron to be featured on the show as one of the “World’s Greatest” in design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and repair of air, ash, and bulk materials handling equipment.
May 16, 2018 - Canadian Biomass rounds up the latest in conveyor technology for biomass producers in 2018.
March 5, 2018 - A quick and easy reference of the top 10 conveyor hazards and their solutions.
Jan. 12, 2018 - Canadian manufacturer of conveyor components Luff Industries is the first North American original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to achieve SKF Equipped status.
Oct. 12, 2017 - As bulk handling equipment suppliers continue to make use of new and evolving technologies to develop “smarter” conveyor systems, a Martin Engineering has introduced data tracking with QR codes on its belt cleaners and other components.
Sept. 25, 2017 - With high operational reliability and flexible application possibilities, conveyor belts are indispensable for the transport of bulk goods in industry today. Transportation lines and material streams are important aspects of every production plant. They need to be cost-effective, efficient and above all reliable in continuous operation. A true all-rounder in transport systems for bulk materials is the VecoBelt pipe conveyor from Vecoplan.
Aug. 25, 2017 - Seeing vs. understanding – a common conundrum when it comes to truly understanding challenges. When applied to conveyor operation, “seeing” is most commonly expressed as, “That’s the way we’ve always done it,” or, “This is the way I was taught.” Not necessarily wrong, but perhaps not completely right either.
Aug. 14, 2017 - A new powered conveyor belt tracker from Martin Engineering delivers immediate and continuous precision adjustment of hard-to-track reversing conveyors, helping operators reduce spillage and extend the life of belts and other system components.
June 23, 2017 - Don’t let emergency stop buttons and pull cords lull you into a false sense of security. They’re the conveyor equivalent of the engine oil light on your car’s dashboard: If the light goes on – or you’re reaching for the emergency stop button – it may be too late.
April 27, 2017 - Martin Engineering has introduced a new family of heavy-duty conveyor belt cleaner designs, engineered so the blade cartridge can be pulled away from the belt for safe access and replaced by a single worker.
March 22, 2017 - Martin Engineering has introduced an automated pneumatic tensioning system for belt cleaners. The new offering delivers precise monitoring and tensioning throughout all stages of blade life, reducing the labour typically required to maintain optimum blade pressure and extending the service life of both the belt and the cleaner.
Feb. 22, 2017 - Vortex has announced the passing of its founder, Loren Neil Peterson at 87 years old. Peterson was very familiar to many in the bulk material handling industry.
Jan. 11, 2017 - A significant investment in tooling and product engineering by Martin Engineering has produced a patented conveyor belt cleaner that is projected to reduce the cost of ownership by cleaning better and lasting longer.
Nov. 24, 2016 - An overview of the conveying equipment available to biomass companies in Canada.
Nov. 10, 2016 - The new Conveyor Accessories, Inc. website can be accessed at www.conveyoraccessories.com.
Oct. 19, 2016 - 4B Components Ltd. has released the all new fourth generation Watchdog control unit for preventive maintenance monitoring of bucket elevators and conveyors.
Aug. 3, 2016 - Martin Engineering has introduced a technology that uses the kinetic energy from a moving conveyor belt to generate enough power to run a wide variety of electronic systems. The Martin Roll Gen System is a self-contained mini power station that allows operators to run electrical monitoring systems and safety mechanisms. Able to be retrofitted on existing idler support structures, operators are not required to maintain a special stock of conveyor rollers, as the generator can be employed on virtually any steel roller. The device is considered a first step toward eliminating power production obstacles, as conveyors move into the next generation of “smart systems” that are predicted to be more sustainable and autonomous.
June 17, 2016 – Martin Engineering has introduced a secondary cleaning system that removes nearly all of the carryback left on a belt, including adhesive materials and fines lodged in surface divots and valleys. The Martin WashboxT Cleaning System combines water spray and secondary cleaning blades in an enclosed and self-contained unit, draining residue safely away from the work area. Operators who have installed the system have drastically reduced dust and spillage from carryback, leading to a safer workplace and longer belt life with considerably less downtime.
