July 5, 2010, Brussels, Belguim – National pellet associations from 10 European countries
have banded together to create a common platform to address industry issues at
the EU level. The European Pellet Council (EPC), organized by the European
Biomass Association (Aebiom), comprises national pellet associations from
Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and
Switzerland.

The EPC
will have the following main objectives: communicating the contributions of the
European pellet sector to the overall use of renewable energy in Europe,
improving EU legislation to launch rapid growth of the market, and functioning
as a platform to ease the changeover from a niche product to a major contributor
to Europe’s energy demand.
