The government of B.C. has approved the transfer of a forest tenure in the Fort Nelson Timber Supply area from Canfor to Peak Fort Nelson Properties Ltd., which plans to build a new wood pellet plant in Fort Nelson, B.C., under the name Peak Renewables.

Peak Fort Nelson Properties will now have a Replaceable Forest License that has an annual allowable cut of 553,716 cubic metres.

The decision to transfer the license comes following engagement and input from the public, local governments and Indigenous Nations. The transfer is supported by Fort Nelson First Nation, which is working with Peak Fort Nelson Properties to create a land management framework to guide operations.
