IWI pellet plant and sawmill site clears zoning hurdle

Aug. 24, 2017 - Ontario-based International Wood Industries (IWI) has cleared its first hurdle to building a sawmill and pellet plant in Bonfield, Ont. Town council approved the rezoning of the site this week.
The proposed sawmill will produce both softwood lumber and hardwood value-added prodcuts, and sawmill residuals will be processed into wood pellets.
The mill site purchase as well as an environmental study and traffic assessment are underway.
