K.D. Quality Pellets (KDQP) of New Liskeard, Ont.,has sold its assets, including its pellet mill, along with the surrounding facilities, equipment and property, to Ontario 2576642 Ltd., operating as “Pelletec.”

The new ownership and management team is composed of seasoned pellet industry veterans, with expertise in production, forestry and logistics. This group is currently reorganizing the facility’s operations and negotiating new feedstock and sales agreements. Initial production is currently commencing, with upgrades and the installation of new equipment under way. The new team is aiming to reach full production by the Fall of 2020. Future plans include research and development of new biomass sources and solutions.

The mill is a specially constructed facility that houses two 45,000-tonne Kahl pellet mills. With railroad access to the ports of Montreal and Quebec City within 10 kilometres, and with ample feedstock in the form of wood waste from several sawmills in the region, it is ideally situated to insert itself into the wood pellet marketplace.
