Largest biofuels producer in U.S. pledges to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050

The United States’ largest biofuels producer has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions at its facilities by 2050.

POET, based in South Dakota, added it plans to reduce its ethanol greenhouse gas emissions by at least 70 per cent by 2030 in comparison with gasoline. The effect of ethanol’s carbon dioxide emissions is dependent upon how it is produced.

POET’s strategy toward achieving its goals include carbon sequestration and using biomass and methane digestion to help with power plant operations.
