Lethbridge Biogas begins power production

December 5, 2013, Lethbridge, Alta. – Lethbridge Biogas LP has
begun production, turning manure and other farm waste into biogas for
electricity generation.
The $30 million project will produce enough electricity to
power approximately 2,800 homes, and has the capacity to expand.
The private company received an $8.2 million grant from the
Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC), as well as a $6.4
million grant from Alberta Energy. They also received a $5 million loan from
the province’s Agriculture Financial Services Corporation.
