Manitoba biomass industry gets funding boost

The federal and Manitoba governments have pledged $500,000 each to fund biomass projects across the province.
Called the Biomass Energy Support Progam, the funding is expected to prompt coal-fired generators to switch to renewable biomass, and to encourage research in cleantech industry.
Under the funding program, current biomass manufacturers can apply to expand their operations. Applications are due Sept. 30.
