September 15, 2014, Mattawa, Ont. – The former Tembec
sawmill in Mattawa, Ont. has been sold to the BioNorth Technology Group.
According to an article from Northern Ontario Business, the
biotech company acquired the 187-acre property in August from the
Mattawa-Bonfield Economic Development Corporation (MBEDC). Mattawa is a small
community located 60km east of North Bay.
The company, led by Frank Benincasa, has not stated official
plans for the property. However, Benincasa has a strong background as a
biodiesel entrepreneur in Ontario.
The announcement was made at last week’s CanBio conference
in Thunder Bay.
