Mercer considers entering the pellet market

May 15, 2014, Vancouver, B.C. – Reports out of Mercer International’s German subsidiary ZPR suggests that the company is considering entering into the wood pellet business.

International’s German subsidiary ZPR suggests that the company is considering
entering into the wood pellet business.

 

According to a report from German wood products magazine
EUWID, ZPR has been in contact with several European pellet manufacturers to
discuss the purchase of ENplus pellets.

The report suggests that the pellets would be stored at one
of its German facilities, but that the pellets would not be used in its biomass
power plants in Stendal or Blankenstein. The company sees the potential
entrance into the pellet industry as supplemental to its existing operations.
