Montreal building biogas plant to process organic waste

Montreal has officially announced its plans to build a biomethanation plant to process organic waste and produce renewable natural gas (RNG) in the city’s east end.

The city announced yesterday a five-year contract with Suez Canada Waste Services to build and operate the $129.8-million plant, which will process 60,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, producing enough RNG to power around 3,600 homes, the Montreal Gazette reports.
