New technology at west coast terminal port suppresses pellet, bulk goods dust loss
June 4, 2021
By Canadian Biomass Magazine
An environmentally friendly new technology is being adopted at DP World’s Fraser Surrey port terminal to suppress dust loss in bulk goods, including wood pellets.
Developed by Intermodal Solutions Group (ISG), the technology allows pellets and other commodities to be transported in sealed containers instead of the contents being dumped onto the vessel in open air.
The process involves a revolving container that allows it to be hoisted into a vessel’s cargo hold. The container is then flipped 180 degrees in the hold to unload its contents.
The system is expected to start by early 2022.
