New U.S. biomass energy infrastructure down in 2014

July 24, 2014, Washington, D.C. – The United States saw 28 new biomass energy infrastructure startups in the first half of 2014, down from 53 in the first half of 2013.

new biomass energy infrastructure startups in the first half of 2014, down from
53 in the first half of 2013.

 

The report, generated by the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission, shows that the 28 new projects have an installed capacity of 87MW.
During the first half of 2013, the 53 new projects had an installed capacity of
136MW.

In total, the U.S. saw 180 new electricity generation units
come online in the first half of 2014 totaling 3,529MW. During the same period
in 2013, 253 new projects came online with an installed capacity of 8,496MW.
