October 2, 2012, St. Anthony, NL – A Newfoundland pellet producer says without a wharf to ship the product, production may come to a halt.

Holson Forest Products Ltd., a Roddickton-Bide Arm company, has taken heat from Liberal MHAs and the Loggers Association about its pellet plant production, or lack thereof, after $10 million in government funding was provided to make the venture operational in 2009.

Ted Lewis, owner of Holson, and Todd May, general manger of the pellet division told Northern Pen recently, that a Roddickton-Bide Arm wharf is the only option for the pellet plant.

“Until we can find a way to ship our pellets or at least get a commitment of a wharf – I guess we could find a short-term solution if we get the commitment – but until we get that we can’t operate the pellet plant.”
